Disappointing turnout for youth fundraiser blamed on Battle River policy prohibiting ticket sales in the schools

It was a disappointing turnout for a fundraiser designed to raise money for programs to help local youth. And organizers believe the event would have been better attended if a new school division policy had not prohibited ticket sales in the school and the sending home of information directly with students.

The group HOJA sang a cappella songs combining harmony and choreographic stage moves at the Tofield Curling Rink Saturday afternoon.

The curling rink was filled with empty chairs while those who did come out enthusiastically moved to the music, all the while clapping and offering words of encouragement to the group onstage.

If more people had come, the review would no doubt have been an upbeat and positive one for the performers.
