Tofield IGA wins Canadian Indpendent Grocer of the Year Award for Northern Alberta region

It’s no secret that the Tofield IGA provides excellent service and community involvement, but the store has just been recognized by its peers for that dedication.

Dave Hare, owner/operator of Tofield IGA, is no stranger to winning awards. That’s because Hare’s store has already won three times since 1998 for the northern Alberta/Northwest Territory/Nunavit region.

Now in 2012, they have once again won the regional award for Top Independent Grocer of the Year in the Small Surface Category. This simply adds to the list of accomplishments for Hare’s family and staff at the IGA.

Not that winning isn’t a thrill every time. Hare and son, David, travelled to Toronto for the 50th Annual Canadian Independent Grocer of the Year Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 2. They were up against about 70 other stores in the region, which Hare said made it a real competition.
