New-look Tofield Satellites start BRHL season 2-0

Brett Holmberg found himself loose on a second period breakaway, faked a shot then went to his backhand lifting the puck over Big Valley goalie Lance Clark’s pads to score the winning goal as Tofield Satellites downed the Oil Kings 3-2 on Sunday evening at Tofield Arena.

The win completed a perfect opening weekend for the Satellites, which also downed Provost Blades at home on Saturday evening, 6-2. Tofield is already one of only three unbeaten teams remaining in the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL) this 2012/13 season.

Sunday’s contest was in support of Movember and Tofield Flys Pink. Satellites players wore pink team socks and had pink stick tape in honour of the events and made a donation to the cause on behalf of the team.

Tofield had control of the Big Valley game from the beginning, as Adam Tomko and Tyler Hennessey got the team to a 2-0 early lead before Oil Kings scored late in the first frame.
