Satellites Ryan Olson applies a hit

KERRY ANDERSON
Tofield Satellites got off to a good start but eventually everything began to go the visitor’s way in an 8-4 loss at Tofield Arena on Saturday to Sedgewick Sabres.

Special teams proved to be a difference in the contest, with Sabres connecting on two powerplay opportunities and also getting a shorthanded goal. Meanwhile Tofield was 0-4 with the man-advantage.

Satellites jumped ahead 2-0 in the first frame before Sedgewick came back to tie the game at two. Ryan Olson scored to put the home team ahead at 14:09 but Sabres tied the score 3-3 before the first period was over.

The tie score was a little demoralizing as Tofield dominated play and outshot the away team 19-11 in the first.

In the second, Sedgewick got the lead before Brian Tavaroli got Tofield’s lone second period goal to tie the game at four. It also turned out to be the Satellites’ last goal as Sabres gained the lead before the middle period was up and then piled it on in the third.
