Satellites wolloped 10-0 in one-of-those-games: Game 2, opening round Sunday, Feb. 3 in Sedgewick

After splitting the season series at two wins each – with both of Sedgewick’s in OT – everyone expected game one of the opening round Battle River Hockey League playoff series to be very close. But what happened Saturday evening at Tofield Arena was nothing less than a nightmare for the Satellites, losing 10-0.

Tofield carried play in the first period and likely deserved what would amount to a couple goal lead, but somehow left for the dressing room between periods down 1-0.

The second period is when the nightmare began, as literally every opportunity the Sabres had seemed to find its way to the back of the net, while Satellites’ chances were mostly held to the perimeter by the Sedgewick defence and goalie Jordy Cox did the rest.

Sedgewick scored some nice goals, finding the upper third of the net for several goals against Tofield’s Christoper Roy.

As the score got worse, to the shock and awe of both fans and players (including Sedgewick’s), the chippiness meter began red-lining. Tofield Fan Favourite Dan Chambers went out to change the flow of the game with a well-timed fight, but even that got no results for the home team as the goals kept piling up – 6-0 after two.

As Satellites, the favoured third-place team, entered the third frame most players and spectators expected that they would find their way back into the game but things went from bad to worse.
