Petition against “no zero” policy part of protest

A petition circulating through Tofield had the signatures of 61 parents and others opposed to the new Battle River School Division (BRSD) policy that would end the percentage marking system for Grade 7-12 students and institute a “no zero” policy.

The petition calls for two sections of BRSD’s Administrative 360 Pro-cedure, or AP360, to be repealed, as they “do not lead to the accurate assessment of our students’ learning.”

The two sections in-clude the “no zero” policy, and what the petition calls “the inaccurate way in which the teachers are required to record and report the students’ individual marks.”

The local signatures were part of 2,800 delivered to Superintendent Larry Payne at the BRSD offices in Camrose last Thursday, which came from all over the school district.
