Community gives fond farewell to Sgt. Warren, retiring as Commander of Tofield RCMP

The community gave retiring Sgt. Jim Warren an especially fond farewell during a special salute at the Beaver County Victim Services Charity Night held Saturday at the Tofield Community Hall.

So much so that, at the end of it all when it was his turn to speak, Warren had difficulty keeping to his script.

“I didn’t think I was going to break down because it’s not my style, I’m supposed to be the rock,” he said, smiling through tear-stained eyes. His tough persona shattered somewhat after hearing so many accolades from so many former colleagues and charges under his watch over the years.

And then the entire hall stood for a long and heartfelt standing ovation, which was the obvious tipping point for himself and wife, Marilyn.
