Youth receive invaluable all-terrain vehicle training

Twenty-three local youth between the ages of six and 16 participated in an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Course June 22 at Hastings Lake Community Hall.

The event, sponsored by the Tofield Agricultural Society, encompassed both classroom and hands on learning during the day long event.

Jodie Stauffer was the instructor of the course which covered all the basics, and Rick Ells, community peace officer with Beaver County, offered information in relation to the municipality’s off-highway bylaw and legislation under the Traffic Safety Act.

Legally the operator of the off-highway vehicle (ATV) must be 16 years of age and possess a valid operator’s license.
