Ambulance transporting patient hit by van – STARS Air Ambulance takes patient to university hospital in Edmonton

A Beaver Emergency Medical Services ambulance was hit by a cube van attempting to turn left across its path on Highway 14 last Thursday.

The ambulance was heading west while transporting a seriously ill elderly patient to University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton.

Tofield RCMP were dispatched to the scene at R.R. 200 and Highway 14, about 10 km west of Tofield.

“An ambulance had been travelling west bound and was already transporting a serious patient to Edmonton when a westbound cube van failed to pull over for the ambulance,” said Cst. Devin Wilson in an RCMP media report. “The cube van made a left turn across the path of the ambulance and the two motor vehicles collided.”
