From immigrant to three-term mayor and the face of Tofield

He came as an immigrant to Canada in the 1970s and rose to become the most recognizable person in Tofield, rubbing shoulders with premiers and having Canadian and international dignitaries’ numbers among his phone contacts.

His long list of political dignitaries formally call him Tofield Mayor Cheyehab. We call him Nabil, former long-time mayor of Tofield.

“I am waiting for the news to sink in,” said Cheyehab, the three-term mayor who just lost the position to Harold Conquest in the municipal election.

“I still have the desire to go into the town office to see my other family. I hope they will welcome me to come in for a coffee occasionally.
