Wolves key suspects in cattle kills at Blackfoot Grazing Reserve

Dan Brown is a worried man. The president of the Blackfoot Grazing Reserve Association is trying to deal with the fact that since late May well over 20 cattle have been killed at the community pasture.

But he can’t seem to get anyone to listen or care that wolves of all sizes and colours have been seenin the grazing reserve, and are appearing to use it as a kind of captive kill zone.

Brown and the manager hired to protect the cattle grazing there, Dwayne Schacker, are sure the killings have been done by wolves.

“We lost two more yesterday,” said Brown last Friday. He suspects the number of cattle killed has risen to 23, with these numbers including cows, calves and yearlings.
