Kevin Smook new reeve of Beaver County after 3-2 vote at organizational meeting

Division 1 Councillor Kevin Smook is the newly elected Reeve for Beaver County following an organizational meeting in Council Chambers Oct. 16. He replaces outgoing reeve Arnold Hanson, who served in that capacity for the year following municipal elections in the fall of 2013.

Hanson was nominated by Ron Yarham (Division 3) while Smook was nominated by Sieko Scott (Division 2).

Hanson thanked his fellow councillors “for the honour of serving as reeve for the past year.”

He also indicated that council has a “track record demonstrating your capacity to work together,” and cited several examples including the new West End Truck Fill Station project, road upgrades, and rebuilding relationships with the towns and villages.
