Tofield Legion Golf Tournament great time for all

Once again the Tofield Legion’s annual Rick Berezan/Hugh Carter Memorial Open Golf Tournament was a great success. Held every year in late summer, the beautiful weather once again made it possible for 54 golfers to play a Texas Scramble on 18 holes with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.

“We don’t know how we do it but the (nice) weather just comes with us,” remarked Legion Secretary Bonnie Ferguson.

After the fun on the Tofield Golf Club course, the golfers enjoyed a steak supper at the Legion, cooked by Spencer Anderson and served with all the trimmings by Mary Carter and her eager group of volunteers.

Legion Sports Chair Shawn Anderson acted as organizer of the event, then followed up as emcee at the supper.

Trophy winners were the team of Vern Kallal, Len Dobransky, Lorne Fincaryk and Ken Parent, who each received day passes to Coal Creek Golf Course as their prize.

“There were lots of donations, it was phenomenal,” said Legion President Barbara Ferguson.
