Repair work underway Monday afternoon after thieves steal cash and mail from Tofield Post Office

Once again, thieves have targeted Tofield for illicit gain. This time it was Canada Post on main street in the early hours of Monday, Feb. 1.

The front door of the post office is always left unlocked to allow customers to gain access to their post office boxes. However, a folding accordian-style partition is pulled over and locked every night to separate the office part of the lobby from the boxes.

Cpl. John Powell of the Tofield RCMP stated it was this partition that had been pried open by an unknown tool to gain access to cash and other mail items.

The call came into the detachment at 2:25 a.m. Powell confirmed, after a driver for the postal corporation entered to find an obvious illegal entrance had taken place.
