Upcoming Ride for Dad a time to showcase Tofield – volunteers still needed

RideforDad-bannerTofield Assistant CAO Jeff Edwards says that obviously the number one reason for the town hosting the June 11th Ride For Dad is to raise money and promote awareness for prostate cancer, but it is also a chance for Tofield to showcase the community.

The event features around 1,000 motorcycle riders involved in a poker run, all the while helping to raise money to fight prostate cancer. Last year’s ride raised almost $250,000.

The offer came to a Tofield Chamber meeting late in the winter, and with the help of the Town, Tofield became part of the route which begins in Nisku. Stops include Leduc, Tofield, then up 834 to Highway 15 and east to Mundare for lunch, and finally back to Nisku by 5:00 pm.

“We still need volunteers,” said Edwards. “We’re anticipating riders in town for an hour to an hour-and-a-half. We could use people to help greet them, hand out promotional material, and answer local questions.”… for more see the May 31/16 Mercury.
