Poker rally raises $5,000 for Lydia

Lydia-ParentsOn Aug. 13th, an enthusiastic group of bikers and motorists travelled out from Thorsby to show support for Lydia, two-year-old girl who was diagnosed with cancer.

When the group arrived at Lydia’s grandparents’ house, they were ready for a poker rally, raffles, and a silent auction. There was also a pig roast at the house.

Jim Watchel, one of the organizers of the event, said that everything went really smoothly on the day of the fundraiser. He said there were probably around 50 bikes and 100 people who attended. “In the end everyone was fed and sleepy when they went home.”

“We couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support. The volunteers were great,” he explained. The event raised around $5,000 for Lydia and her family during this difficult time.

Lydia and her mom made it out to the event and were thrilled to see the motorcycles and listen to their engines. “Lydia was out there giving high fives and fist bumps to everyone,” said her grandmother, Jackie. .. FOR MORE SEE THE AUG 30/16 MERCURY
