80 TEAMS IN RY-TOF SLOWPITCH TOURNEY

ry-tof-partypigschaos2The 21st Annual Ry-Tof Slo-Pitch Tournament was a huge success with 80 teams participating again this year. Organizer Vanita Eglauer was extremely pleased with the result as rain threatened to fall at times over the Labour Day long weekend but didn’t succeed in dampening any spirits or causing any delays.

There was some cause for concern when rain fell hard on Friday night leaving standing water on some of the ball diamonds. After all, last year’s event was cancelled after being rained out. Eglauer said the Town of Tofield’s public works team pumped water off the fields and this helped get them ready for the next day’s start of ball action.

The round robin games were held Saturday and Sunday, with event play and finals on Monday. The tournament is so big that ball diamonds in Tofield and Ryley were used, along with diamonds at Lindbrook, Bardo and the Ryley school grounds.
