Vandalism to train could have caused derailment

The RCMP have a message for the person who vandalized a train stopped in Tofield on Feb. 5.

The message is that a serious accident could have happened and the responsible party would have been on the hook for the damages.

“A hose was disconnected on the train causing problems with the pressure,” said Sgt. Jim Warren. That loss of pressure would have affected the train’s brake pressure and ability to stop.

“We could have a had a derailment,” said Warren.
