Pie in the Face fun after C.W. Sears raises over $5,000 in Terry Fox Run

“At C.W. Sears when we have a goal set we always reach it,” said Principal Zenovia Lazaruik, after proudly announcing the elementary school had raised $5,138 at this year’s Terry Fox Run fundraiser.

Grade 2 teacher Michelle Munroe organizes the event every year, and expressed gratitude on behalf of the Terry Fox Committee for participation by students, staff and community members.

“It is a great team building event that is fun for not only staff but more importantly for the students,” she said.

But for Munroe the reasons were also deeply personal. “I’ve had many friends and family who have either died from or battled and survived this horrible disease (of cancer)… It is a cause near and dear to my heart.” FOR MORE SEE THE OCT. 25/16 MERCURY
