Celebration of arts and crafts on display at Tofield Museum

Do you remember Mr. Dressup’s “tickle trunk” or Fibber McGee’s closet? The tickle trunk held the costumes that Mr. Dressup used on his shows televised from 1967 to 1996. Fibber McGee’s iconic closet was a catch-all for the show that was broadcasted from 1935 to 1957. When this closet was opened, the sound effects man produced the clatter of falling objects.

Now let us fast forward to June 16th, when local artists and crafters displayed their wares at the Tofield Museum.

It seemed that many dug into their tickle trunks to pull out the many treasured objects. There were heirloom pieces passed on from one generation to another. There was collectable needlework from Tofield as well as from around the world. There were embroidered tablecloths, crocheted doilies, knitted baby sweaters, petit point pictures, appliquéd throw pillows and braided rugs, just to mention a few.
