Holden asks Suncor to donate former recycling depot

The Village of Holden is working towards making the former recycling depot building an historic resource now that the recycling project has folded.

The village is in the process of clearing out the old paper and equipment from the building. To that end, it has advised the former directors of the Holden/Bruce Recycling Association if they have any concerns about the ownership or dispersement of the equipment left in the building to notify the village.

Village council agreed at its July 16 meeting that the former directors would have until Aug. 15th to address any concerns. After that, the village will be disposing of the equipment.

“The (recycling) committee has folded,” said village CAO Katherine Whiteside last Thursday. “The village has to deal with the equipment and the building.”
