Former Beaver County Councillor for Division 3 Gene Hrabec announced his candidacy last week for the P.C. riding nomination. The riding is currently occupied by MLA Ed Stelmach, former provincial premier, who will stay until the next provincial election.
Other candidates have already declared themselves from other parts of the riding but Hrabec, who lives on a farm in the central part of the county, is the first to do so locally.
“I am excited at the opportunity to put my name forward for nomination,” Hrabec said in his press release. “I have been an active member in my community pretty well my whole life. I grew up in Beaver County in the Holden and Ryley area and am active in my community. I moved to Edmonton to attend Grant MacEwan Community College to get my Law Enforcement Diploma and have been employed with the Edmonton Police Service for nearly 24 years and have worked in numerous different areas throughout.
