The Christmas season kicked off in Tofield Saturday with the Christmas Craft Fair at the community hall. Vendors and shoppers filled the hall as holiday themed music set the tone for this annual event.

People shopped, visited, lunched, and just took in the sights and sounds of the season. Children visited with Santa Claus. who listened to each child’s wishes for Christmas. Then each child received a bag of goodies to send them on their way.

Next weekend will see even more events scheduled, many of them fundraisers for worthy causes.

“Breakfast with Santa” takes place at the Tofield Legion on Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The fun event combines the opportunity of enjoying a scrumptious breakfast for $5 per person with proceeds going to the Community Christmas Hamper program.

Sponsors are the Tofield Mercury, IGA, Home-Time Realty and Tofield Legion. Kids will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with Santa and to meet the team members of the Tofield Satellites.

Another chance to make a difference in the lives of others this season is the “Stuff the Bus!” campaign, which will also take place this coming Saturday.

The bus will be in the IGA parking lot from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to stop by and enjoy the barbecue that will be set up outdoors. Food, gifts and monetary donations can be dropped off and gladly accepted to help those who will need the services of the Tofield/Ryley Christmas Hamper Program this Christmas. The theme is “Helping those less fortunate this Christmas.”
