Fenske’s energy seems unbounded as she campaigns for P.C. nomination

Although she only signed her nomination papers Jan. 4, Strathcona County councillor Jacquie Fenske has been tirelessly campaigning for the P.C. nomination in this riding ever since Ed Stelmach declared his intention to step down as MLA.

She held a meet and greet at Tilly’s Restaurant in Tofield on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 11 where she spoke of her reason for seeking the nomination.

“I find a great deal of satisfaction in finding answers to questions (and) solutions to problems,” she said. “I love my province and where I live and I want to make sure the rest of the people know we are here.”

She proudly refers to coming from an area that is a combination of urban, rural and industrial. Calling the riding diverse, Fenske said she thinks she can balance out the representation for each area.

“I’ve done it for many years,” she said.

As councillor for Ward 5, she is known for her defence of rural Strathcona residents in a largely urban council. Fenske says she has brought forward Ward 5 issues and put them “front and centre” with her own style, and feels she can do the same in the provincial legislature as its MLA.
