Couple dies while standing on tracks near Tofield – Man, 65, and woman, 57, succumb to their injuries after making no apparent attempt to avoid train
A man and woman died shortly after 11 p.m. on April 3 when they were struck by a train northwest of Tofield. A 65-year man and a 57-year-old woman are deceased but Tofield RCMP are not releasing their names at this time.
“Their deaths are considered non suspicious in nature,” said Sgt. Jim Warren. The accident took place at R.R. 201 where it crosses the Canadian National Rail-road main line, or one kilometre north of Twp. Rd. 512 and R.R. 201.
Warren said the accident was not criminal in nature. “There was no foul play involved here. They were standing (on the tracks), they weren’t walking. They knew the train was there, (but) they did not move.”
