Independent candidate throws his hat in the ring for Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville
Peter Schneider just made it in the nick of time. That is, filing his nomination papers to run as a candidate in Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville in the upcoming provincial election.
In 2004, he garnered 25 per cent of the vote as an independent.
Having been involved in the industrial sector since 1979, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Heartland and beyond.
“I believe that Alberta’s resources should benefit Albertans the most. Not only should we be upgrading bitumen here, but we should develop secondary and tertiary industries.”
Schneider wants to change the royalty system to something similar to the the Norwegian system, a country which has more heritage funds with fewer resources.
He believes the additional revenue would assist schools and healthcare, and improve social services for the elderly and low income earners.
The values he has stated include the following:
• Alberta’s resources are for Albertans.
• Major revamp of the royalty system.
• Environmental im-provements now and for the future.
• Strong public health care with accountability.
• Affordable and stable electricity and gas rates.
