It’s possible that I’m mellowing in my old age.

Take the colour orange, to start. It used to scream at me and set my teeth on edge, so was avoided at all costs. The only exceptions were in nature – pumpkins, autumn leaves, navel oranges.

Then I started using it in quilting, because sometimes my quilts have let me know that nothing else would do. My opinion has been altered to the degree that when I received bright orange flowers this Mother’s Day, I was thrilled at their beauty.

And then our son came home for my special day.
