Tofield Sodbuster Rodeo is excited to welcome Shane Yellowbird to headline this year’s rodeo dance on June 2nd at Tofield Arena.

Tickets for this dance are just $35 each, and can be purchased at Tofield IGA, or at the Town of Town Office (780-662-3269).

Shane Yellowbird has become one of country music’s brightest new country stars, and in the years following his debut album, “Life is Calling My Name,” he has been causing quite a stir!

He has won numerous awards including, “Best Country Recording” at the Native American Music Awards, “Aborigi-nal Entertainer of the Year” and the coveted Canadian Country Mu-sic Association (CCMA) “Rising Star Award.”

Following the release of his second album, “It’s About Time,” Shane crossed the border to pursue his music career and release a video in the United States.

He was invited to play on the prestigious “Grand Old Opry” stage.

Shane was born into a rodeo family in Hobbema, learning to rope and ride very early in life.

However, a speech impediment strangely enough helped launch his singing career.

Following a suggestion by a speech therapist, Shane began singing his sentences to help him overcome a severe stuttering problem – and you can hear his success!

Shane eventually entered, and won, several singing contests, and so a career in country music became his new dream.

Shane hasn’t forgotten his country roots. He still breaks, and participates in calf roping when he can, but his true calling is in country music.

Also performing are Sweet Tequilla – back by popular demand from last year’s performance!

Promoting themselves as a rock-edged country music band, in the past year Sweet Tequila has opened for entertainers such as Terri Clark, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Reba McIntyre and Aaron Pritchett.

Shane Yellowbird, with Sweet Tequilla is a combination you won’t want to miss!  Get your tickets today!
