Video-conferencing equipment needed by RCMP

On Tuesday, June 12, five of the detachment’s seven constables appear-ed as witnesses in Vegreville court. The appearances took up the entire day requiring the RCMP to reschedule shifts.

“This is killing our budget,” said Warren. To try and keep costs down the detachment has to be run with less than a full complement.

“It’s all we can do,” he said, adding the videoconferencing equipment the Town of Tofield was considering buying for the RCMP would help a great deal. This would allow members to testify from Tofield rather than travelling to court in order to give testimony and evidence.

“The town was willing to come up with the equipment,” he said. “Would it help? Yes.”
