$250,000 estimated to get rid of asbestos found in county building; renovations delayed until this week – The good news is no tax dollars will be used for project funded through MSI grant
Renovations to the interior of the County Council building on main street in Ryley were delayed until this week due to the need to remove asbestos found in the building.
County employees vacated the offices Aug. 17 to make way for the renovations and now work out of the new agricultural shop on the east side of Ryley. Renovations began July 30th and were expected to be completed by the fall of 2013.
In the meantime, work has not progressed as initially expected due to the need to remove hazardous materials exposed when the inside of the building was gutted.
The asbestos was first reported at September’s county council meeting.
