Satellites move to 7-1 with exciting last second victory over Mohawks at Tofield Arena
Tofield Satellites stretched its lead atop the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL) by two points with two games at hand after an 8-7 victory over the Macklin Mohawks at Tofield Arena on Saturday evening.
In a topsy-turvy, back-and-forth game, Satellites overcame a 3-0 first period deficit by scoring two goals in the last 1:05; and the first three in the middle frame to take a 5-3 lead at 7:25 of period two. Mohawks closed the gap to one before the period was out to set up a thrilling third period.
Macklin tied the game at 5-5 only 1:08 into the third and again the Satellites fought back. Jesse Van Dalfsen scored at 7:56 to regain the lead for Tofield. Amazingly, the Mohawks again struck back to tie the game at 6-6 at 10:23.
