Dream comes true as Tofield’s Taylor LeClaire heads to Canadian Figure Skating Championships

Taylor LeClaire, 15, performs in the short program at Sectionals competitions this past October where she took gold to become the Novice Women’s Champion for Alberta/N.W.T/Nunavit. She has won the right to compete at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Mississauga, Ont. Jan. 12-20.

For Taylor LeClaire, the dream has only just begun. In just a few short days, the 15-year-old from Tofield will compete in the national skating championships in both singles and pairs competition.

The Canadian Figure Skating Championships take place in Mississauga, Ont. from Jan. 12-20th.

Taylor will compete in Novice Women’s and Novice Pairs. Her partner in the pairs competition will be Christopher Mostert, 17, from St. Albert. Both young skaters belong to the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club at West Edmonton Mall.

Taylor’s aspirations are high ones, no doubt augmented by the fact two of her pairs coaches are Olympic champion David Pelletier, and Pelletier’s own coach when he won Olympic gold with then partner Jamie Sale, Jan Ullmark.

Taylor’s other coaches include Raui Wallia (singles) and Jessica Gosse (singles and pairs), who was instrumental is getting her more famous coaches to train with her.
