Satellites keep hopes of second place alive with win over Big Valley at home on Saturday
Tofield Satellites lost any chance they may have had to land in first place last week, but due to a 5-4 win over Big Valley on Saturday the Satellites have a real shot at second before the Battle River Hockey League (BRHL) season is over in less than two weeks.
Satellites jumped into a 3-1 lead against the Oil Kings on Saturday at Tofield Arena, before the effort dropped off and the team allowed three unanswered goals to the BRHL’s last place team (3-12-2) oddly with one of the best GAAs in the league.
Down 4-3 after two, player-coach Ryan Olson re-started the Satellites’ fire between periods and the locals came out hitting and skating for the final frame. It took Tofield less than five minutes to collect the two goals necessary to re-take the lead and Jesse Van Dalfsen scored the winner from Jake Quast at 4:41.
