Tofield’s Taylor LeClaire and partner win pairs at Canadian Figure Skating Championships
Tofield’s Taylor LeClaire took the Bronze medal with partner Christopher Mostert, 17, in the pairs competition at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in Mississauga, Ont. last Tuesday.
Taylor said in a recent interview with the Mercury that she “loves to jump and spin,” and felt her medal chances were good in this competition.
At just 15, she and Chris took to the podium as representatives of the Ice Palace Figure Skating Club at West Edmonton Mall. Their score was 92.60. Rachel Dobson and Alexander Sheldrick (WO) won Gold at 100.72 points, and Judith Murtha-Anderson and Trent Michaud (EO) took Silver with 98.16.
Taylor’s instincts concerning the skating pair’s chances proved correct, and Taylor’s mother, Carrie, was thrilled with the outcome. “What a day,” she said, while emailing results to the Tofield Mercury. “Taylor and Chris performed a personal best score in both (short and long) programs, earning them a Bronze medal!”
