Elections Alberta cites one illegal donation in riding

Fort Saskatchewan-Vegreville’s Progressive Conservative Constituency Association is one of 45 cited by Alberta Elections for receiving an illegal donation following an investigation.

Alberta’s chief electoral officer Brian Fjeldheim released the list of those who violated the provincial election laws last Thursday. Included was a $525 donation by Mackenzie County for a June 2011 golf tournament fundraiser for then premier and local MLA Ed Stelmach.

Stelmach has since retired, with Jacquie Fenske elected MLA in his stead at the last provincial election.

The riding association was issued an administrative penalty of $262.50, which Elections Alberta stated was “issued and received.”
