Matty’s Place Cat Sanctuary setting up in local area: Tulie the tortured cat left for dead now lives there

She’s spent years rescuing abandoned and abused animals in the Tofield area. Of course, the need for such services just keeps increasing, and now Sharon Butler- Diewert has started an animal sanctuary to enable her to continue her work.

Matty’s Place is being helped by Amy Porter, who owns and operates Prairie Rose Boarding Kennels in the local area. Porter is hoping people will become educated about the existence of Matty’s Place, and the valuable work being done there…

Butler has many stories of the cats she now shelters and the terrible conditions under which they were found. One of the more infamous cases was the story of Tulie, who was found in a snowy ditch on S.H. 834 just north of the railway tracks east of Tofield. She had been dumped there with her litter mates but only Tulie and a sister, who could not be saved, were found.

Tulie’s eyes had been glued shut with super-glue, her head set on fire. She was covered in blood and eventually lost her ears and front paws to severe burns, and her internal injuries were severe. She was not expected to survive, but survive she did under Sharon’s fervent care. The incident horrified the local community and…
