Tofield couple celebrates 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends gathered together

They say love conquers all, and in the case of a Tofield couple that has been true in spades, and for many years.

Lots of laughter and memories accompanied John and Irene Warner’s celebration of their wedding anniversary – exactly 70 years to the day of being married on Sept. 21, 1943 – in a hall full of well wishers last Saturday.

The predominating theme for the celebration was the fact that this couple still acts like newlyweds, and never seem to tire of each other’s company.

Perhaps John Warner expressed it best himself, when he gave his own personal view on how to have a good and lasting marriage: “What does it take? You just have to pick the right one in the first place.”
