TFD gives another $20 grand to Stollery after another successful ball

…Special to the evening was the showing of the volunteer firemen’s recruitment video which pumped the crowd up with pride in “Answering the Call.”

Then when the mood was right, 25 year member Rick Carlisle was given a retirement tribute complete with powerpoint presentation and the awarding of a watch.

“He didn’t know it was coming,” said Iverson. “He rose up through the ranks at the Tofield Fire Department quickly becoming Assistant Fire Chief, but eventually settling in as captain.”

While membership is down in most areas of Alberta, Tofield Fire Department actually has to turn people away.

“We don’t have room in our budget for more members… all needing training and gear.”
