Breakfast with Santa well attended event this year
The 35th Annual Breakfast with Santa at the Tofield Legion Saturday was a well attended event this year.
Altogether, 120 adults and 93 children came out to eat delicious pancakes and sausages. Once again, the $738 raised this year will go towards the Community Christmas Hamper Program.
Dave Hare explained that the event is organized and run with the help of several sponsors. The Tofield Legion donates the building every year, while Kevin Smook of Home-Time Realty volunteers in the kitchen and helps pay for photographer Carla Lehman to take pictures of the children with Santa Claus.
Lehman donated her time, as did Santa, said Hare, who owns and operates Tofield IGA. Members of the Tofield Fire Department worked hard in the kitchen cooking and the Tofield Mercury donates the advertising.
Bonnie Oliver was busy taking the money at the door, and kept track of the number of the patrons.
The number of people attending “was good and steady,” said Hare over the period of 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
