Communities in Bloom committee possible with new initiative

Danielle Schmidt-Paborn wants to form a Communities in Bloom Committee in Tofield as soon as possible with the intent of entering the competition in 2014. She read Mayor Harold Con-quest’s statements in the Mercury that a committee composed of local citizens was necessary as the town would not be spearheading the initiative.

And she wants to take up the challenge. Communities in Bloom may inspire thoughts of eye-appealing flower beds and tidy streets, but it’s so much more than that, says Danielle Schmidt-Paborn, local ATB Financial Branch Manager.

“When I started re-searching Communities in Bloom, I was surprised to see such emphasis on environmental stewardship and green initiatives,” said Schmidt-Paborn.
