Battle River School Division may cut some bus routes in Beaver County

Three school bus routes in the Battle River School Division (BRSD), plus one express run, are being considered for elimination.

According to Diane Hutchinson, BRSD Communications Co-ordinator, each year at this time the Transportation Department reviews routes based on what is known about enrollment for the coming year.

She said the routes are examined weighing the number of students who will start and finish school, and based on those numbers, routes are re-designed.

She said Brenda Johnson, Director of Transportation with BRSD, is talking to Viking bus drivers because, based on student locations for next year, there might be a possibility of making adjustments and eliminating one route.
