Can you raid your garden for the Food Bank? They need help!
Have you more garden produce than you can eat? Eating fresh produce is something many people enjoy in the fall as gardens yield up their vegetables and other tasty delights.
The Tofield Ryley and Area Food Bank is asking for donations from people’s gardens so that those in need receiving their hampers can also enjoy the taste of fresh produce.
The food bank will accept all garden produce the public wishes to give, which will be distributed to clients. So, if you have excess amounts that can be given to the food bank to avoid waste, please consider donating to those who would greatly appreciate it.
Root vegetables like carrots and potatoes can be preserved for months in cold storage and given out over time. The types of produce considered perishable would be distributed in as timely a manner as possible so none is wasted… for more see the Sept. 16/14 Mercury.
