Tofield man dies in single vehicle rollover

Tofield RCMP are reporting that on Sept. 26, 2014, shortly after 1:30 a.m., RCMP officers along with Tofield Fire and Rescue were alerted to a single vehicle roll over on Highway 833 near Township Road 502.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle had been thrown from the vehicle upon impact. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation indicates that the SUV had been travelling south on Highway 833, then crossed into the east ditch and rolled upon coming back up onto the highway.

The vehicle rolled and again entered the east ditch where it came to rest on its wheels. The SUV did catch fire after coming to rest and was engulfed in flames upon arrival of emergency crews.

The deceased is a 35-year-old man from the Tofield area and his name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
