Tofield Library celebrates 50th anniversary
Friday afternoon was a special day for the Tofield Municipal Library as patrons and officials gathered to help celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Although many people have helped the library in Tofield start in the early 1900s and kept it going over the years, it didn’t become an official town library until a bylaw in 1964.
The celebration involved displays with photographs of days gone by. The local history book states that, on Oct. 19, 1964, as the result of a petition, a bylaw was passed by town council establishing the Tofield Municipal Library.
