Bad accident this morning at Tofield intersection re-routes traffic

Highway 14 at Tofield was the scene of an accident involving a pickup and two larger haul trucks about 9 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16. The accident took place on the highway between the two entrances to the town’s service road.

Tofield RCMP report that a blue pickup was travelling west on Highway 14 when it collided with a larger westbound truck. The pickup then slid into the path of an oncoming transport truck before coming to rest in the north ditch.

The pickup appeared totalled while the transport truck received heavy damage to the front of the vehicle. Hours later, it remained on the highway while a collision analyst tried to piece together the sequence of events leading to the collision.

There is no official word yet as to any injuries or possible fatalities, although unconfirmed reports of STARS Air Ambulance landing around 9:30 a.m. have been reported.

Traffic has been re-routed for the course of the day as these events unfold. Tofield Fire and Rescue are also assisting with these issues on the scene.

RCMP expect to make a further update once the highway has been re-opened.
