The Tofield and Area Health Foundation was a victim of its own success last Friday night.

The food was excellent, the entertainment equally good, but unfortunately the food ran out before the lineup of people did.

With about 175 people in attendance, the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding dinner was greatly anticipated by all at the Valentine’s Dinner. This was the first dinner held by the foundation since before Christmas and after the January break. The first Tofield Farmers’ Market had been held earlier that afternoon as well.

“We had an outstanding turnout tonight,” said Beaver County Reeve Kevin Smook, who is also the foundation’s Vice-Chair. But he added that there “won’t be seconds.” Smook said the numbers given for how much food to make failed to take in the large crowd that turned out.

“We gave them numbers and you blew them away,” he told the crowd. “We really do appreciate the turnout.” For more see the Feb. 18/15 Mercury
