Tofield Sr. Titan Boys take Zone Championship

For the first time since 1972, a Tofield Titans Sr. Boys basketball team is going to Provincials after taking the Zone championship at a tournament in Sedgewick last weekend.

The Tofield team beat all three opponents, with an 84-57 win over Central Alberta Christian High School in Lacombe on Friday, another 109-55 win Saturday over Calgary’s David Thompson School, and finally clinching the victory by beating Rimbey Junior-Senior High School 94-84.

It was a very emotional weekend for the Tofield team who put in a great deal of hard work to win the title.

The team now moves on to compete in Provincials in Drumheller this week. In 1972, the Tofield team went to Provincials and won. In 1973, they lost the championship by one point. After over 40 years have passed, the team finally has another shot competing provincially. Good luck team!
