Boost for School Breakfast Club – 75 kids use the program every day
C.W. Sears’ Breakfast Club received a boost last Friday when members of the Tofield Country Quilters donated $150 during the school’s monthly assembly.
A delighted Diana Woode, the club’s volunteer coordinator, received the funds from quilters committee members Jodi Leone and Emily Shepherd.
The club started last April after Principal Zenovia Lazaruik told those attending a parent council meeting that she wanted to have this in their school. The idea was quickly adopted and Woode volunteered to be the organizer.
“We offer a grain, fruit and dairy every morning,” said Woode. The program is open to all students. “On average, we are getting 75 kids every day.” … For more see the Sept. 22/15 Mercury
