A year later, Ryley liquor store robbed again
Harinder (Harry) Handal wondered last Friday if his luck was running out when it comes to robberies at the store he manages, Ryley Cold Beer and Spirits.
That’s because the store has been robbed again, almost a year after the armed robbery that had three men burst in with a shotgun and large knife to steal alcohol and money on a dark night. That robbery took place on Sept. 29. This latest robbery happened Friday, Sept. 25 around 1 a.m. Access was gained by prying open the front door. The saving grace with this robbery was that no employees or customers were present at that late hour.
“Luckily we were not here,” said Handal, who estimates about $5,000 was stolen. “So they took a lot.”
That included “some expensive liquors,” he added, including two boxes of one brand of whisky worth $1,400. “They were quite bold,” he said, taking seven or eight minutes to break through the front door.
The RCMP now have security video of the event, with Handal explaining… for more see the Sept. 29/15 Mercury
