Heaving concrete made sidewalk repairs necessary – Mayor Conquest
Mayor Harold Conquest said the repairs to the sidewalks in downtown Tofield were necessary as the concrete was heaving and making it impossible to open the doors to businesses.
“You couldn’t open the door at Napa,” he said, and there was a similar issue at Belle Starr Boutique on the next block to the south.
“Things happen, as long as they come back and fix it, that’s okay,” he said, referring to the company Raiders that did the initial sidewalk implementation last year.
The work started Monday, Oct. 19 with the sidewalks being torn out in two separate sections on main street. Then workers “dug way down and replaced the foundation,” said the mayor. The concrete was poured and by Friday the work was done. “They’re walking on it now,” he said.
